Districts 51 and 80 Joint Annual Convention 2005 - Transportation while you stay in Jakarta

People said that music unites people in the world. That was exactly what had happened in Jakarta on 3 - 5 March 2005 on Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival. Many musicians around the world such as James Brown, Incognito, George Duke, Jeff Kashiwa, Earth Wind & Fire, Laura Fygi, Tania Maria, and many more gathered in Jakarta to entertain jazzy lovers. A lot of people admitted that it was a very successful event after Jakarta Jazz on 1997. That international event proved that Jakarta has become safe to be visited and held such big event.

It is not only music that can unite people from different country, race, religion in the world, but also Toastmasters. After 10 years, Jakarta will be host again for Joint Annual Convention of District 51 & 80 on 19 - 22 May 2005 at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta - Indonesia. Have You heard what Your Friends said about Conventions... Jakarta 2005 Annual Convention
Do you know that attending our District's conventions is an uplifting experience? I have attended numerous conventions in our District and proud to be able to share with you the many "whoosing" experiences that conventions promise. :-)

In addition, attending conventions allow us to renew our pride and joy with Toastmasters International! :-)

Here are what some of our friends said about our District's conventions:

This should be my 12th convention I attended so far in my life, by going to Jakarta 2005.  I attend the convention mainly because we have fun, fellowship, friendship, fulfillment and etc... I can also learn a lot from the contests as well as the workshops. Apart from that, this will be my 1st time to visit Jakarta, Indonesia in my life and I always want to visit Indonesia.

Barnabas Cheung ATM-S

Division H Governor 2004/2005

District 80

I attend convention because I particularly love listening to the opening, plenary and keynote address for the epiphany behind their messages. I also enjoy listening to the nail-biting contests and learning from the meaningful messages that we so often take for granted.

Chay Wen Liang ATM-B CL

IPP, Telok Blangah Toastmasters Club

District 80

This need for identity is just as relevant in an international entity like Toastmasters District 80.  Twice a year we reach out to connect with the members of the family from other clubs, other areas and other divisions; with the other members of District 80.  That is why those of us who attend conventions regularly, continue to do so year after year.

Michael Wee DTM

Tampines Changkat Toastmasters Club

District 80

I often find that I am highly motivated after attending each convention. I guessed the reason is cos the organizing committee for each convention has put in tremendous efforts to make their convention a success. The fellowship is great and it is wonderful to share the few days with people who have the same interest as you. That is why after having attended ten annual conventions & seven semi annual conventions, I am still attending the convention. Six months after joining the Toastmasters movement, I attended my first annual convention & have not missed a single annual convention since then. The first convention which was held in Jakarta was nine years ago. It has been a long time that they are organizing this coming one. I have signed up for the Jakarta2005 convention at the KL2004 convention. Have you? If you have not, I encourage you to do so.

___________________________________________________________

Dear Fellow Toastmasters of District 80,

In recent communications that I have had with Gea Bang Peng, Goh Wei Koon and  Poh Kim Siong,
I have heard about some of the wonderful achievements that are taking place in your excellent, dynamic
and growing district.  I commend you all for the exciting participation that is happening in your part of
the world.  It is a demonstration of the genuine dynamism of the people of Singapore.

The fact that you all work so hard on building your personal skills by completing your project speeches,
and the manner in which you are happy to share your skills and knowledge with each other, provides
a base of expertise can only continue grow for the benefit of everyone concerned.

Be certain to ensure that everyone you know who can benefit from this wonderful pool of talent that you
have, is invited to come along and have the chance to share in the special growth that you are personally
experiencing.  Sharing our talents and skills with each other is what Toastmasters is all about.

It is with delight that I personally anticipate meeting up with many of you in March, when I will have the
pleasure of visiting Singapore myself.  I have kindly been asked to share some of the experience that
I have personally gained by competing for the World Public Speaking Championship Finals 2003,
(in the USA), with you.

I applaud the fact that District 80 has taken on the challenge of producing a World Public Speaking
Champion.  I hope to share with you all some of the secrets of how to take the 'extra step' to became
really 'advanced communicators'.  We will hold a meeting where the 'real secrets' of advanced
speaking skills will be shared with all who attend.  Out of this sharing of ideas, we hope to lift the level
of achievement to even greater heights for everyone, and even produce a possible World Champion
speaker if we do it well enough.

Together we can achieve the improbable.  Who knows, perhaps we can even achieve the
unbelievable!  I look forwards with great delight to sharing in the warmth of your friendship, ideas and
excitement.  I feel certain that with the talents that you all have, that are just waiting to be discovered,
we will have some really wonderful surprises come to pass!

They say that the pen is mightier than the sword, but I believe that the spoken word is much more
powerful than the pen
!  We are all on a journey to acquire the power of the spoken word, and with
that power will ultimately come personal success in everything else that we do.  In speaking, the
objective is firstly to have fun!  Secondly it is to be skilful.  Thirdly it is to be used for the benefit
of everyone
concerned.  With these principles in mind, how could we ever go wrong?

I look forward to meeting you all soon in person.

My Very Best Wishes To You,

Cliff Boer

< 突破阻碍,只要开口,就有机会!> 6th November 2004

Have You Ever thought of ……..

One day, you are asked to re-located or Offered a Job at China?

One day, you are invited to make an introduction about your self, your company or your product, In front of the Chinese……

Do you have the confident or way how to express your thought and deliver your message?
