Michael has been in the Toastmasters’ movement for more than ten years. Despite the numerous changes to his club venues and club names, he has remained loyal and steadfast in his endeavours.

In Singapore, he is one of the pillars of his club and is the main driving force in promoting Gavel Clubs in schools and junior colleges.

With his vast experience in building Toastmasters and Gavel clubs, Michael would be a major asset to District 80 when he is elected to the post of Lieutenant-Governor marketing.

Dear Fellow Toastmasters of District 80

Michael Wee, DTM for Lt Gen Marketing, District 80

Michael Wee has been an inspiring leader since I met him at his club’s chapter meeting more than a decade ago.

Having worked with Michael on several occasions, I find him a man of his word. True to the Toastmasters’ maxim, he meant what he said and had inspired many members over the last decade as club officer, area governor and division governor. This was evident throughout his involvement in the several Gavel Clubs that he helped to set up in the Singapore schools. Such was a task, which won him neither District recognition nor World Headquarters “brownie points”.  Yet Michael slogged on quietly and diligently to help our young school children get off a good start in the Communications & Leadership tracks. I was fortunate to be invited as evaluator-helper on a few occasions and was thoroughly amazed with Michael’s enthusiasm. His achievements to date are not known to many because Michael is not a man who would blow his own trumpet!

A man of honour and integrity, an effective leader and caring toastmaster, Michael will certainly fit the role of Lt General (Marketing) for District 80 with our full support.

Ours is a new district of diversity. We need effective leaders who could make a difference to every member, club, area and division.

Aileen Tan, DTM

Division B Governor 1996/7 – District 51

Dear Michael,

I am thrilled that you are running for the post of Lieutenant-Governor Marketing.

In times of bleakness you are the brilliant strode of hope and possibility that lights it all up with your steadfast reputation and admirable dedication to the Toastmasters movement.  Your uncompromising stance on policy matters and regulations is something I wish to emulate.

Of the many people I have met on my Toastmasters journey, you have inspired me to always push myself toward better speaking excellence.  You are the right person for the job because you have your heart in the right place!

Regards,

Ramesh Muthusamy

District 51 International Speech Contest Champion 2001/2002

Area S6 Governor 2002/2003

I first joined the Tampines Changkat Toastmasters when Michael Wee was the Club President.  I was so impressed by his eloquent speeches that I signed up at once and I have no regrets at all.

My personal feelings about Michael are that he had always been helping and encouraging others to grow and to be better communicators.  I have also heard lots of our members were as touched by him as he really shows inwardly that he is a person who cares for others especially when they are down.

Many of us and, especially I, will never be as good a speaker as Michael but he never ever look down on us.  Our club is strong because he is always there to help.

I strongly support Michael Wee, DTM as candidate for Lieutenant-Governor Marketing 2005-2006.

DTM Michael Wee is an earnest and active Toastmaster who is willing to extend a helping hand to many Toastmasters Clubs.   Ulu Pandan Toastmasters Club had benefit greatly from his generous sharing and we are always grateful to the support and guidance.

My sincere congratulations to Michael Wee, DTM, who is standing for election as Lieutenant Governor Marketing for Toastmasters District 80. I have known Michael for many years, and can personally vouch for his deep commitment to the ideals of the Toastmasters movement.

Besides founding several new Toastmasters clubs, as well as being sponsor/mentor to groom the next generation of budding Toastmasters, Michael has served complete terms - with distinction and honour - as elected Area Governor and as Division Governor.

Michael is a familiar face at the many clubs he visits where he is ever-willing to offer his services often as General or Language Evaluator - often with his wife Cheng Lee who also is an active and enthusiastic Toastmaster. As an experienced Toastmaster, he is very much in demand, especially because he can easily take on any meeting role as requested.

His broad knowledge and experience in Toastmasters, as well as his unfettered enthusiasm in selfless service to the movement and coaching others to be the best that they can be, can only be admired and applauded. I am extremely pleased to call Michael my friend, and whole-heartedly recommend him for 2005/06 Lieutenant Governor Marketing. His background and abilities ensure that he can and will excel in bringing us to new heights of excellence and accomplishment, and his guidance and leadership - together with that of the other District officials - will be crucial to ensure that District 80 will next year become the top District in the world. I believe he is the best candidate for the task, and urge all like-minded Toastmasters to support Michael and vote for him to be the 2005/06 Lieutenant Governor Marketing for District 80. He has my vote, how about yours?

DTM Michael Wee for LGM 2005-2006

I have known Michael since I joined Tampines East Toastmasters Club (Presently known as Tampines Changkat TMC) nearly 10 years ago.

He was the club President at that time, during his term he took the club to great heights.  Later he performed excellent role as Area Governor.  As a Division S Governor, his commitment and contribution accelerated the growth of Division S and was awarded the District Division Governor of the Year Award for 1999-2000.

Michael is a very dedicated Toastmaster and has been a pillar of support to our club, Yokogawa Toastmasters club.  As a  mentor Michael was there to support & guide our club with his heart and soul inspiring and encouraging  members to be involved in Toastmaster activities & all Toastmasters to become competent  speakers and to grow and excel; which resulted in the Club achieving President’s Distinguished Club Status in the first year, established and ensuring a high standard of meetings.

Due to in house club our club meeting time were not fixed, sometime we had lunch meetings and some times evening meetings.

Michael was always there, rain or shine to support the club.

He has performed several roles in our daily meetings, conducted trainings, judged several contests

We found him to be, very knowledgeable, most experienced, dedicated, committed and capable Toastmaster.

Michael is a great person to work with, he is always willing to help & motivate. A very approachable person a true leader, who motivates, guides & leads you to achieve greater heights

We strongly recommend DTM Michael Wee for the appointment of LGM for the Term 2005-2006 and extend our full support to him.

I have known Michael for over 10 years and he has always impressed me as a dedicated and committed toastmaster.  He can always be relied on, to help out in whatever capacity, be it timer, evaluation, general evaluation or judging in contests.  And in the years that I have known him, he always came across sincere, honest and helpful, and had never left us disappointed nor upset.  Michael always make good on his promises and he can be counted on to deliver.

It does not come as a surprise that when NUS Alumni was approached to help start NUSS Toastmasters Club, we naturally turn to Michael to help mentor and sponsor the club.  With his invaluable help, we chartered the club last year.  And even to this day, Michael continues to attend the club’s chapter meeting despite his busy schedule.  If there is any man whose heart is in the right place – Michael is the MAN.

It is hence with pleasure that I urged you to vote Michael as Lieutenant-Governor, Marketing.  With Michael on the job, the job is a good as done!
