Talk Up Toastmasters

Program Dates: February 1 – March 31
Toastmasters love to connect, so take advantage of it. The "Talk Up Toastmasters" membership program is the chance to encourage your members to invite guests to a special meeting where prospective members can learn about Toastmasters' many benefits. Then add five new, dual or reinstated members with a join date between February 1 and March 31, and you’ll receive a special "Talk up Toastmasters" ribbon to display on your club’s banner. Qualifying clubs can also earn a special discount code for 10-percent off their next club order. (The discount code expires six months from the date of issue and is not valid with any other offer.)

Applications and payments for members with a join date between February 1 and March 31 must be received at World Headquarters or online no later than March 31. The addition of transfer and charter members does not count for credit toward “Talk Up Toastmasters” credit.

The winning clubs will be revealed online within a few weeks of the submission deadline. Winning clubs should allow up to 10 business days to receive their award if they are located in the United States, and up to 21 business days if they are outside of the United States.

Club Growith Director's Report
January 2016

Goodbye 2015! Hello 2016!

Year 2015 has been a busy and exciting year, not just for me personally, but for the entire District as a whole. All district and club officers and leaders worked hard, each contributing in their own ways in their respective roles, to bring District 80 to new heights, breaking new records along the way.

It is the time of the year again when we review what we have done so far in 2015, and perhaps make some fine tuning to what we have planned to do in 2016.

Goal #1: 10% growth in membership payment

Our membership payment was 5,895 as of 28 Dec 2015. Compared with 5,517 over the same period in the previous term, we managed to increase our membership payment by about 6.8%. While this may look like a decent performance, it is still short of achieving our target of 10% membership payment increment.

Goal #2: 10% net club growth

We added 5 new members into our District 80 family, namely:

-       MSD Singapore Toastmasters Club (Area S4)

-       Toastmasters In Christ (Area S1)

-       PRCS Toastmasters Club (Area D5)

-       Olam International Toastmasters Club (Area G5)

-       Jurong Green Advanced Toastmasters Club (Area G2).

There are 3 new clubs submitted their charter applications and pending TI’s approval to be officially chartered (as of 31 Dec 2015), and they are:

-       Thermo Fisher Scientific Toastmasters Club (Area B3)

-       Halliburton Toastmasters Club (Area Z2)

-       Hougang CC Mandarin Toastmasters (Area V2).

Finally, we have Serangoon Gardens Country Club (SGCC) Toastmasters Club (Area U1) in the final stage of their charter application submission.

Despite being on track to achieving our goal of 10% new club growth for the current term, we must not lose sight of potentially losing some of our existing clubs. The following clubs have not submitted their October dues, though efforts are still being made to bring them to good standing:

-       Infosys Singapore Toastmasters Club (Area G4)

-       CB&I Singapore Toastmasters Club (Area U1)

-       Tian Ran Xuan Mandarin Toastmasters Club (Area L3)

-       Bukit Panjang Toastmasters Club (Area E5)

-       Tampines East Toastmasters Club (Area G1).

Goal #3: 100% club visit report submission

All Area Directors submitted club visit reports for all the clubs under their charge before the reports were due on 30 Nov 2015. This is a perfect 100% achievement, the result of excellent teamwork and full cooperation of all Division Directors and Area Directors.

Going forward, we will need to work even harder to achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves at the beginning of the current term, and to achieve them by 31 May 2016.

All divisions are actively working on new club leads and these leads are very promising. We are very confident of chartering more new clubs in the months to come. No efforts will be spared to find ways and means to revive clubs which are currently not in good standing. The combined results of chartering more new clubs and reviving some of the existing clubs will be a further increase in membership payment. My experience working together with our district officers, and our division, area and club officers and leaders, has convincingly demonstrated that achieving the goals and attaining President’s Distinguished District is within our reach.

I look forward to an even more fulfilling and memorable year, and I wish all my fellow Toastmasters a healthy and happy 2016.

Best regards,
