I have known Kim Siong in 1999 when he was the District Treasurer. I was able to know him better when we happened to climb Mount Kinabalu before the KK2000 convention. Despite the tireless when we were taking each step to reach the summit, he displayed his persistence with his consistent big smile. Cheering each other on our journey to the summit. Many more encounters in the following conventions and events in Singapore too. I remembered more than a year ago, I popped this question to him, why have you not offer yourself to serve in the district council? Our district needed people of your experiences and commitment. We were having a midnight tea near his apartment in Jurong West. He replied that the time is not right. There is no right time or wrong time, the only faith that I have is WE HAVE THE RIGHT PERSON, KIM SIONG, to serve the toastmasters movement.

The journey to Pfizer's Toastmaster's inauguration would be further delayed if not for the relentless support from Kim Siong, our mentor and friend. In the last few months, we have been procrastinating on our club's set up. Kim Siong continuously encouraged us and enticed us with anecdotes from current Toastmasters on the benefits and joy derived from the club. He was indeed, a walking, breathing ad for the Toastmasters International.

I admire his conviction and dedication to the Toastmasters' cause and am honored to be mentored by him.
